Labyrinth 2 Fan Trailer

Labyrinth 2
Jareth and Goblins at the movies.

Many of us grew up loving Jim Henson’s Labyrinth movie. Recently I got to take my son to see it in the movie theater for his first time. He loved it and it gave me a real sense of nostalgia. It also sparked a curiosity in me about what happened next. For years there have been talks about a sequel and I’m not sure if it will be able to live up to the original. I love Jim Henson’s stuff but many of their more modern movies just aren’t as good as this classic. There is also rumors that the sequel will be in the labyrinth world but a random new story. I hope they take a page from the success of the recent ghostbusters and see that people want returning characters and some nostalgia. Either way I decided it would be fun to come up with an idea for a sequel. I made a fan trailer based on the idea.

Here is the basic premise of my story.

In the sequel to Jim Henson’s “Labyrinth,” set decades after the original, Sarah has grown into a successful children’s book author. Her brother Toby is her literary Manger. She’s estranged from her daughter. Her life takes a dramatic turn when she finds out her daughter and granddaughter have gone missing. She discovers she’s been taken into the Labyrinth. Determined to save them, Sarah returns to her childhood home to convince Toby of the Labyrinth’s reality. And find her back to the magical world she once escaped.

Sarah’s journey back to the Labyrinth reveals a world transformed. The whimsical maze she once navigated as a teenager has morphed into a realm of shadows and fear. The change is attributed to the death of Jareth, the Goblin King, who died of sadness following Sarah’s departure. His absence has left a void, resulting in a darker, more dangerous Labyrinth under the control of a new, sinister ruler.

This sequel explores themes of loss, change, and the enduring power of love and courage. Sarah must navigate the treacherous new Labyrinth, confront the malevolent force that now reigns, and rescue her family. In doing so, she embarks on a journey that not only tests her strength and resolve but also forces her to confront her past and the impact of her actions on the world she once fought to escape. Through perseverance and the bonds of family, Sarah’s adventure delves into the depths of what it means to face one’s fears and emerge triumphant in the face of adversity.

Hope you like the video. It was created with AI and references from still frames from the movie. It will be hard to make a sequel that will make everyone happy but I would love it Jennifer Connelly would come back to the labyrinth years later. Might would be fun if her brother Toby joined her as well. No matter what happens Labyrinth will remain one of my favorite movies, and now is a favorite of my son’s too.
